LET CHURCH ALWAYS BE A PLACE OF
MERCY AND HOPE
WHERE EVERYONE IS
The Catechism program at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Sector VI is conducted on every Sunday from 10.00 am to 11.00 am after the Sunday Holy Mass Classes started.
Students join Grade-1 on completion of six years of age and continue their twelve-year faith formation. Students in class V/VI are prepared for the Holy Communion and Students of Class VIII for the sacrament of confirmation.
Each Year generally session starts in July and Ends in February with the Catechism Annual Examination. Each of these 12 years has a separate curriculum and separate Book is designed by the Archdiocese.
In addition to regular lessons, the catechism year features a number of activities oriented towards social responsibility, charity and spiritual growth.
The catechism enrolls an average of 400 students annually with a team of nearly 20 dedicated catechists looking after the faith formation of the children.
All catechists are required to undergo a Catechists Training Course before they begin teaching. Further training includes regular seminars, retreats and meetings aimed at improving teaching skills and methodology as well as spiritual formation and growth.
The catechism program is guided by Fr. John Punnore under the leadership of Parish Priest Fr. Joseph Vaippemmadom and Assistant Parish Priest Fr Arun Bara.
