St. Monica’s Feast Celebration on 26/08/2017

Prayer and devotion in honor of St.Monica started on 24/08/2017 for 3 days followed by Holy Mass on each day. MaatriSangh of the parish participated actively in it. Our parish priest Fr. Joseph Shivo emphasized on the life of St.Monica and St. Mother Teresa that all women should be holy, devoted, and faithful to the Lord and be a role model for the next generation. They must lead a life full of prayer, sacrifices and love for the family and everyone around them. His message was based on the Women Empowerment with examples from the Holy Bible, mainly by Esther who had full faith in God and asked for strength to do God’s will and also Ruth’s unselfishness, dedication, pure love and care for her mother-in-law.The Canaanite woman whom Jesus says, “You are a woman of great faith. What you want will be done for you.”

St. Monica who had total faith in the Lord, through her prayers and sacrifices she could bring her husband and son St. Augustine close to the Lord. St. Augustine after becoming cardinal says about his mother who died in his arms while going to Rome, “I can’t explain how great my mother’s heart was. Her thoughts and words have taken me towards Jesus. What a great mother you have given me Lord “.

Parish Priest asked all women of the parish to follow St.Monicaclosely and lead a prayerful holy life.

After the Holy Mass, everyone was invited to the community hall where an event was organized and conducted by J.M.J (Jesus Mary Joseph) Youth team in which all the women of the parish were given a warm and hearty welcome. The function was started by lighting the lamps along with a prayer song. Anchoring of the programme was very well managed by AnjuEkka. Everyone was welcomed with sandalwood teekain their forehead and a wonderful group song followed by an Act which was about love and affection shared between an old woman and her son. Reena based on St. Monica’s life and the bible. The quiz was prepared by Assistant Parish Priest and Youth director Fr Ajay Bara. Small game events were conducted and prizes were distributed to the winners. Mrs.Rosamma sang a nice devotional song on St Monica. Iris and Emmanuel Minz sang a duet based on Law of Attraction and Blessings. The event came to an end with a beautiful group dance. Our J.M.J. Youth team conducted a really beautiful event and everyone who attended the event were then greeted with cakes and tea along with a delicious serving of khichadi.
